Education of the Senses

This area of our curriculum focuses on refining all the 6 senses. We focus on visual, tactile, smell, taste, sound & kinaesthetic. It helps to refine motor skills, visual and auditory senses, develops co-ordination, and the ability to order and classify. This curriculum area helps prepare the child for all the other curriculum areas.

Literacy

We use phonetic awareness in our literacy activities. The activities are hands-on and tactile. We start with writing then progress to reading. We begin with I-spy games, then move on to our Sandpaper letters and then to the moveable alphabet.

Numeracy

Numeracy is developed with the use of concrete learning materials. We use hands-on materials - such as: Number rods; Sandpaper numbers; Cards & Counters; Spindle box; Beads & Boards. All our exercises build on each other. As the child grows in numeracy they will move from concrete materials to more abstract materials.
